Hi, I'm Kev, an ordinary bloke from Stoke. Previously fit and seemingly healthy, my Cancer diagnosis came from nowhere. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.
CANCER MY ARSE! aims to raise awareness and much needed funds for Cancer charities, perhaps to save you or a loved one at some point in the future. Since I am now Stage 4 for the second time, and terminal, I don't have the fitness to do anything extraordinary on my own, so I am reaching out to my network and my family’s connection to cycling to create a fun challenge that will hopefully encourage and inspire others to get involved.
Continuing to exercise is important to prolonging my life, but intrusive surgery has made it painful for me to even think about sitting on a bike saddle, which is where the name CANCER MY ARSE! originated. And, as Snoopy once said: “Every time you find some humour in a difficult situation you win!”
Although my condition has kept me off the bike, it sparked an idea for a unique challenge: I'm calling on family, friends, and cyclists everywhere to ride—without sitting in the saddle. This challenge isn’t just about raising funds; it’s about showing that no matter the obstacles, the human spirit is resilient and full of hope.
Your support will help amplify this cause, raising vital funds that could make a difference, perhaps too late for me, but certainly for others facing a similar fight. Every mile pedalled, every donation made, brings us closer to a world where Cancer doesn’t get the last word.
Our vision is a cure for Cancer so that photographs like the above are not missing a family member.
CANCER MY ARSE! aims to inspire hope and unite people in the relentless pursuit of a world where no one has to fear cancer.
We aim to galvanise a global community of fighters, survivors, and supporters who collectively raise significant funds for cancer research and support services. Every contribution fuels lifesaving research, improves patient care, and strengthens community awareness, bringing us one step closer to a world free from cancer.
Our approach is simple but audacious: challenge participants to engage in a series of fun, daring, or physical activities that spark conversations and drive donations to cancer charities. By leveraging social media, community events, and personal networks, we encourage participants to share their stories, challenges, and commitment to beating cancer.
See how far you can ride your bike without sitting in the saddle… “Once you sit, that’s it!”
The where and when is up to you, so could be on the open road, a hill climb or on a static bike (spin or Zwift etc.); it will all count.
Collectively we are targeting to cycle further than the distance to the moon (that's just over over 238,855 miles) and to raise over £23,885 for our three charities, Action Medical Research for Children, Cancer Research UK and Bowel Cancer UK.
Simply record your distance, get it on social media, donate and challenge friends to do it, let’s hit those targets!
If you would like to get more involved, check out our event series, which includes a range of challenges for both adults and juniors.
We've got loads of goodies from our Sponsors to giveaway for the best efforts, videos, and shares.
